Short description: |
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the morphology, anatomy and physiological characteristics of basic groups of microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts and filamentous fungi). The course also includes issues related to the kinetics of microbial growth, their nutrition, breathing, occurrence in the environment and their impact on this environment and the mutual interaction between microorganisms. |
Full description: |
Morphology, anatomy, life cycles and basics of systematics of bacteria, actinomycetes, yeast, filamentous fungi and viruses. Outline of microorganisms physiology; nutrition, respiration, growth. Interaction between microorganisms and the environment. Natural habitats of microorganisms, their interaction with other organisms and contribution to life functioning on our planet. |
